With the advancement of science and technology , pets are living longer then before .Pets tend to age faster than human beings . We start calling them senior especially in small breeds, once they reach 7 years age which is equivalent to 45 years of human life . In this new era ,luckily we can diagnose a lot of diseases at early stages and delay their progression . As pet ages they face variety of diseases / conditions which include - cancer , heart disease ,osteoarthritis , liver / kidney diseases , imbalance of thyroid hormones , diabetes . Its important to diagnose theses conditions at early stage so that we can start helping them at right time .
We advise one exam semi-annually for older pets. There are a few tests like blood test , urine test which help veterinarians for proper evaluations of internal organs .
